The Tergar Meditation Community, founded by the revered meditation teacher and master of the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, has announced a special online event on 26 July featuring Aaron Stryker, co-founder and executive director of the grassroots non-profit Dharma Gates, which is dedicated to opening pathways for young adults to cultivate a formal meditation practice.

Titled “My Meditation Journey with Aaron Stryker: Connecting Young People to Meditation,” the webinar will take the form of a conversation between Stryker and Tergar International executive director and board member Cortland Dahl centered on meditation as a path to clarity, compassion, and engagement with the world for young practitioners.

My Meditation Journey is a light-hearted discussion with a serious message intended to empower, inspire curiosity, and help develop self-confidence and joy amidst life’s challenges, Tergar explained. “Aaron Stryker will share his personal story and the insights gained from his dedicated spiritual practice and work with young adults.” (Tergar International)

During the live-stream, Stryker will explain the importance of a spiritual practice, and how meditation can give young people new tools and techniques to mitigate anxiety and engage with the world with meaning and purpose. The program will include a conversation with Stryker and an open Q&A for participants to ask questions.

“Join us for a powerful My Meditation Journey conversation with Aaron Stryker . . . as he shares how a personal crisis during college became the gateway to a deeper life of meaning and service,” Tergar said. “Whether you’re a student, navigating your early career, or someone who cares deeply about the next generation, this conversation offers real insight into how we can transform challenge into awakening.”

Stryker embarked on his spiritual journey as a student at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, seeking to find a path out of anxiety and intense personal challenges. This path introduced him to Zen Buddhism, and eventually led to a life dedicated to making meditation practice accessible to young people. He subsequently co-founded the non-profit Dharma Gates for this aspiration: helping young people engage with the world with clarity, purpose, and compassion.

“Drawing on his own journey from crisis to clarity, Aaron Stryker will share how a meditation practice can provide young people with the tools to navigate anxiety, find purpose, and engage with the world in a meaningful way,” tergar remarked. “Learn how meditation and spiritual practice can be a source of resilience and inspiration for a new generation.”
