The Tergar Meditation Community, founded by the revered meditation teacher and master of the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, has announced a free five-day summit, “Flourish: The Science and Practice of Human Potential,” to be held online from 17–21 March. The program is aimed at connecting participants with practical wisdom needed to help them cultivate their innate human potential.
“Flourish brings together world-renowned neuroscientists, pioneering psychologists, outstanding Buddhist teachers, and leading thinkers with a shared intention: to offer clear, practical wisdom that helps close the gap between the life you’re living and the life you know you’re meant to lead,” Tergar said in an announcement shared with BDG.
The five-day event will explore how practitioners can reclaim their attention in an age of distraction, work skillfully with emotions, transform their inner critic into a supportive ally, build sustainable habits, and connect with a deeper sense of purpose and meaning. Drawing on contemplative traditions and contemporary science, the forum will seek to integrate meditation practice with evidence-based approaches to well-being.
“This is a space for real transformation,” Tergar noted. “No quick fixes. No overwhelming jargon. Just grounded practices you can apply in daily life.”

The summit will feature 21 speakers, renowned experts in their field, including: renowned Buddhist teachers Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Tsokyni Rinpoche, and Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche; along with psychologist Richard Davidson, founder of the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; scientist, translator, and meditation teacher Cortland Dahl; psychologist and meditation teacher Tara Brach; Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR); and author and mindfulness innovator Susan Kaiser Greenland.
“Flourish invites a quieter shift in perspective,” Tergar remarked. “Rather than striving to become someone else, it encourages us to notice what’s already here and to let go of the patterns that cloud our attention and limit our care for ourselves and others. Human potential is expressed through how we live and contribute, moment by moment.”
The five-day program will explore five key aspects of inner practice and development:
Day 1: Creating Focus in a Distracted World
Day 2: Working with Your Emotions
Day 3: Transforming Your Inner Critic
Day 4: Building Sustainable Habits
Day 5: Finding Purpose and Meaning in a Modern World

Tergar explained: “We all know that feeling. A quiet certainty that we’re capable of a deeper, more meaningful life, and the equally familiar sense that we’re falling short of that potential. Our attention is constantly pulled in a dozen directions. Our emotions hijack us. And the harsh inner voice keeps telling us we’re not enough.
“This isn’t a personal failure. It reflects a deeply rooted human condition we all share. And there is a hopeful truth: we can flourish by understanding how our mind works and learning how to work with it in daily life.” (Tergar International)
Tergar International is a non-profit organization founded by Mingyur Rinpoche with the intention of making the ancient practice of meditation accessible to the modern world. With a global community of meditators and an international network of centers and groups, Tergar is dedicated to helping people of all backgrounds discover the joy and benefits of meditation.
“Sometimes, the greatest barrier to lasting change isn’t lack of knowledge—it’s the gap between knowing and doing,” Tergar emphasized. “This is about working with your brain’s natural learning systems, not fighting against them, to create the sustainable changes that let you flourish.
“Human potential is not fully realized until it serves something greater than itself. . . . This isn’t about adding more to your life—it’s about finally showing up for the life you already have.”
