“Under the directorship of Ven. Professor K. L. Dhammajoti, The Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong offers a sanctuary for self-cultivation and meditation practice, the BDCHK remarked, “and a curriculum of Buddhist studies accredited by the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, an internationally reputed institution with 100 years of history in Buddhist studies.” (BDCHK)
Established in 2012, The Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong is a Hong Kong-registered charitable institution that works to promote the integration of Buddhist studies and Dharma practice, framed by the doctrine of the five spiritual faculties: faith, vigor, mindfulness, equipoise, and wisdom. Under this broad remit, the BDCHK promotes the study and research of Buddhism by offering academic courses, published papers and volumes, and regular seminars, lectures, and conferences.
The BDCHK’s academic programs, which are open to lay and monastic international students, include: Diploma in Pali and Buddhist Studies; Master of Arts Degree in Buddhist Studies; Master of Philosophy in Buddhist Studies; and Doctor of Philosophy in Buddhist Studies.
The BDCHK emphasized that its objectives are “to integrate the study of Buddhism with Buddhadharma practice,” and “to develop a holistic understanding of Buddhism without sectarian bias” by providing “an avenue for learning Buddhist studies systematically for those aspiring to pursue Buddhist studies at the tertiary level,” and “to handle personal problems effectively, cultivate wisdom, and attain a harmonious life through Buddhadharma practice.” (BDCHK)
