Engaged Buddhism: One Earth Sangha Opens Registration for EcoSattva Training

One Earth Sangha, a environmental nonprofit network guided by Buddhist wisdom and rooted in EcoDharma, has opened registration for its 2025–26 EcoSattva Training course, a unique online program aimed at cultivating wisdom, global connection, and compassionate action in response to this time of ecological crisis and instability.

“The EcoSattva Training is a guided journey into rediscovering the inherent, forceful power residing in each of us to lead on an appropriate response,” One Earth Sangha said in an announcement shared with BDG. “As we cultivate clear seeing, supported by radical Dharma wisdom, justice-informed analysis, and a growing community of engaged practitioners, we may discover new pathways opening to us. No matter how vast the challenge, we can face it together—with sobriety, vigor, kindness, and fierceness. We lovingly invite you to join us as we sense our way into right relationship with our world.”

One Earth Sangha’s stated mission is to support the world in a transformative response to climate and ecological breakdown, based on the insights and practices of the Buddhadharma. Through their Virtual EcoDharma Center, the global network aims to inspire, inform, and guide members toward actions that will end ecological violence.

“We are in the midst of dramatic change and, with it, profound loss and rising fear,” One Earth Sangha observed. “Our practice can support us not only in being with this trouble in all its manifesting forms, but steadying our minds, opening our hearts, and finding our power in all that is unfolding. From this place, there is still so much good, important, and life-sustaining work that awaits us.” (One Earth Sangha)

One Earth Sangha’s 2025–26 EcoSattva Training is open for registration for aspiring EcoSattvas, with course materials available from 26 October and sessions to be released weekly thereafter. One Earth Sangha will also hold an online launch event on 26 October led by adviser and Dharma teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo.

This annually run course is made up of a series of eight self-paced and self-scheduled sessions for individuals or small groups that comprise teachings from a diverse group of leaders, practices, contemplations, and follow-up resources.

“This year, we have updated a handful of offerings that are attuned to this moment,” One Earth Sangha added. “We are excited to offer new EcoDharma from Kritee Kanko, Adam Lobel, Kristin Barker, and Lou Leonard. We will also offer a recorded panel of people in our EcoDharma community exploring different forms and expressions of engagement.”

Course tools are provided to facilitate the creation of in-person and online groups, as well as templates and other resources. The content is revised each year to ensure that the course teachings are in step with rapidly evolving global circumstances situation and to bring in new findings and fresh perspectives.

“Humanity is contending like never before with a world in radically uncertain transition. More than ever, we find ourselves grappling with the consequences of poly-crisis,” ” One Earth Sangha remarked. “With reverence and gratitude, we dedicate this year’s EcoSattva Training to two beloved teachers, Joanna Macy and Larry Ward, who transitioned this past year and whose contributions to this course are immeasurable.” (One Earth Sangha)
