Shen Li
Dr. Shen Li (Shella) is a Tibetologist and Buddhist art historian, currently serving as a research associate in the Department of Chinese History and Culture at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a recipient of the Numata Research Fellowship for Buddhist Studies at Ryukoku University, Kyoto, Japan in 2026. Her research expertise focuses on Sino-Tibetan Tantric Buddhist iconology and historical philology, with working proficiency in Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Manchu. Through her column, she will present cutting-edge academic research and recent scholarly advances in Tantric Buddhism in East Asia, with particular attention to research emerging from mainland China.
